Congratulations on the incoming baby!!! And of course, on your book! 700 copies sold is amazing. I’m sorry the stress of it all got to be overwhelming, but I’m so glad you’re in a better place now.
The section about your relationship with Substack sounds exactly like my journey so far. I’m also making some changes here :)
Thanks, Inga! Feels like ages since I’ve checked in. I plan to buy your novel when it’s out. May right? I shall be getting the paperback. How’s everything going with it? You’re doing a serialised novella on here right?
Thank you! Yes, it will be out May 29th. I'm at the finish line. Contacting people on Instagram to read the ARC and still getting rid of spelling errors haha.
I am also serializing the novella, and really need to finish writing it soon to make the deadline.
Thank you for sharing your struggle and your success! 700 copies sold is amazing—like you said, life isn’t linear and I hope whatever detours you go on give you great views on the way.
Thanks so much, Isabel. It’s been an intense 6 weeks or so, but one I’ll always look back on fondly. I set myself a goal of 500 in 12 months, so to blitz it already is super cool. Got my first book festival on Sunday, so gearing up for that.
Oh Louis, we're here and with you and you know what? 700 copies is absolutely amazing. Shame Bezos nicks a lot of the pay from it, but maybe Bookfunnel or something direct next time, a more direct relationship with readers? I know a couple of creative people who come on and off their meds exactly because they feel the meds damp down their abilities to do the creative work. It's a tough call and has to be individual. But living meds free takes a hell of a lot of work (Bipolar Bro on here talks a bit about some of his strategies for keeping even keel, Stephen Long also, different diagnoses but basically same big issue for all these situations of- to medicate or not?) You write well, have a fresh voice & style, are full of ideas, and I think you're gonna find your way. Year one of baby can be tough and once kids come, life and time and energy are different, but you're young and energetic and I think you're going to manage the juggle once you've got your systems and support set up. Wishing you all the best and ffs don't disappear totally. Even a monthly pop on here with news will be good; and your readership here will keep an eye out. Tom Cox is a good model I think for "here but not really" and holding his readership close, conserving his time for actual writing. Blimey, that was a splurge. Just hopped on and saw this, had to respond before the churn loses it.
Caro you’re one of the nicest people I’ve ever met. I’m sure I’ve told you that before. Yes, all good stuff to consider. I’m in a much better place now and seriously looking forward to the future. I just didn’t ever want to be a burden or the ‘story’ when it came to the birth of my daughter. So in that regards the meds have played their role to perfection. I will figure the writing out. Whether or not that becomes me transcribing it from voice notes or something. Lots of options. Lots of time. Book one is done. Life can continue. Hope you’re all good, mate. Sorry I’ve not been on to DM. France still?
Yes. France and only putting WiFi on twice a day for fast check-ins. Recharged and regenerated. Listening to lots of melodramatic lyrics french music and loving it. Back in touch with my heart and soul

Busy busy! Awesome reviews on Goodreads. Must give you huge confidence ahead of launch!
Thank you for checking them out! Yeah, I'm absolutely blown away by the kindness and the thoroughness of these reviews from strangers.
Yep! The net galley crowd can be hard to please as well so it must be great!
